Ski Info privacy policy

Last updated: October 2026

Ski Info is a free app for looking up ski resort information (runs, lifts, altitude, piste map and weather forecast). This page explains what data the app handles and how.

No accounts, no personal data

Ski Info needs no sign-up, has no user accounts and does not collect, store or share personally identifiable data (name, email, contacts, etc.). It shows no ads.

Anonymous usage statistics

To understand how the app is used and improve it, Ski Info records anonymous usage statistics:

This data is stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore), acting as storage provider. Only the person responsible for Ski Info can access it; it is used solely to measure how the app is used, is never sold or shared with third parties, and is deleted after 13 months. As it isn't tied to your identity, we cannot tell which records are yours; if you clear the app's data (or uninstall it), a new identifier is created.

The Android app also includes Firebase Analytics (Google) for basic install and usage statistics (first open, sessions), with advertising-ID collection turned off.

Your location

Ski Info can use your location for two things, always only with your permission: showing the resorts near you and showing where you are on the piste map.

Data the app loads

To work, the app makes requests to these services, which receive no personal data from you: they only serve content or answer for the location of the resort you are viewing, not yours:

Requests go straight from your device to each service. Ski Info has no server of its own: it is a static website.

Links to other sites (Booking.com and official websites)

Each resort page includes external links, such as its official website or an accommodation search on Booking.com. When you tap them you are on that third party's site, under its own privacy policy. Ski Info receives no data about you or your bookings.

Some links may be affiliate links (run by networks such as CJ or Awin): if you book after tapping one, Ski Info may earn a commission at no cost to you. To attribute the booking, the affiliate network records the click and may use cookies, under its own policy. Affiliate links are marked as such in the app.

Local storage

The app keeps on your own device the statistics identifier, your saved resorts, your chosen language and display preferences (such as the map's colour mode). None of it leaves your device, and it is deleted if you clear the app's data or uninstall it.

App permissions (Android)

The Android app asks for internet access, needed to load the data, and, only if you allow it, your location, for what is described under “Your location”. It does not ask for camera, contacts, storage or any other sensitive permission.

Children

Ski Info is not aimed specifically at children and does not knowingly collect data from children, as it collects no personal data from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If the way the app works changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated with the new date.
